Avalon is a very small borough located in the state of Pennsylvania. With a population of 4,644 people and two associated neighborhoods, Avalon is the 322nd largest community in Pennsylvania. Much of the housing stock in Avalon was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic boroughs in the country.

Also of interest is that Avalon has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Of important note, Avalon is also a borough of artists. Avalon has more artists, designers and people working in media than 90% of the communities in America. This concentration of artists helps shape Avalon’s character.

Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.

Despite the fact that it is a small borough, Avalon has quite a few people who take public transportation – mostly the bus - for their daily commute to work. This helps to fill a real need in the borough for affordable transportation.
